Daniel A. Watton, married to Michele Watton, is father of one daughter and two boys. Raised in Southern California and later in Malden, Massachusetts, he served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard for 15 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). Duty assignments included Operations Officer for the Coast Guard Gulf Strike Team in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi (now in Mobile, Alabama), and Chief of the Marine Environmental Response Division at the Coast Guard's Marine Safety Office in Boston (MSO Boston). During this time he over-saw federal response actions for major marine incidents to prevent large-scale environmental impacts. Awarded numerous military awards and citations during active duty including the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, he is presently employed as an Environmental Engineer with NSTAR Electric & Gas in Massachusetts. Mr. Watton holds a BS from Suffolk University and an MS from Long Island University. He has written numerous articles on Environmental Engineering that appeared in trade publications and has authored many stories for the Coast Guard publication Commandant's Bulletin.
